In this episode, Andrew, talks about his vision and what stirred him on to start this podcast. With the current environment of officiating, he felt there was a need for this sort of dialogue and hopes it will help the situation and allows everyone to see the humanity in each other! Thanks for following this journey and we hope to see you back for all the episodes to come!

The Story of The Irenic Ref Podcast
I am Andrew Gross, a basketball official in the state of South Dakota. In the current climate of officiating, I felt there was a space that was void and needed a voice. Many officials and coaches don't get to see [and know] each other besides the minimal interactions they may have with each other on the court one night out of the year.
As I saw this empty space, I thought "why hasn't someone attempted to create a bridge between coaches and officials?" And as I thought about it more, I decided that if I believed it was a necessary bridge that needed to be created, then I should create the bridge.
With all that said, I'm glad you decided to check out this podcast and hopefully we can bridge the gap and see the humanity in each other even during a questionable call or hotly contested game.
